Youth Convention 2007

It’s time to sign up for one of the big impacts of the year, the NJ District youth convention!  The cost for our group is $55.00.  You will also need money for 2 meals.  Music by the Chris Colletti band.  Don’t be a slacker…sign up and go…if $55.00 is too steep for you, let me know and we’ll figure something out.  Bottomline…you need to be at this convention.

Tuesday night thoughts

Posted by admin on October 9th, 2007

I just got back from tonight’s worship team practice.  We usually take a good chunk of time going over the songs and trying to make the music sound good.  Tonight we were able to push through that and spend some time just worshipping God together.  What a cool time of just letting ourselves be the instruments and getting back to simplicity

Sometimes it’s so simple…just get into God’s presence and let Him minister to you as you minister to Him.  So many problems get solved just by coming into his presence.  This is how Asaph felt in Psalm 73…so many questions…so many offenses he carried…but then he entered God’s presence and so much of what bothered him melted away.  Asaph figured it out - that all we need is to come to God and he will help us understand the things that don’t make sense to us and help us to get a proper perspective.

If there is a lingering question, doubt or problem that won’t go away, get into God’s presence and watch how your persective will change in light of His greatness.

The countdown begins

Ok… like it or not, it’s getting closer…and there’s nothing you can do about it.  The end of August means the beginning of the end of summer fun and the approach of math homework, gym shorts, cafeteria food, new locker combinations, and 180 days of pressure.  Sound bleak?  While the madness breaks upon us, there may not be much I can do to relieve your stress over the assignments that loom over your future (except maybe hire some brainiac to handle your workload….mmm…. not happening), but I believe we can do something to prepare for the stress that you will face everyday when it comes to living for Christ on campus.

We know the drill… we’re supposed to tell our friends about God’s love and be examples….but when does it stop being a drill and start being a life commitment?  When do we stop saying “yes” to God with our mouths at youth gatherings and then turn around and say “no” to him with how we live our life?  Isn’t it true that most of us know what we should do, we just don’t do it?

We need to refresh the basics of our faith again.

  • Pray
  • Live
  • Tell
  • Serve
  • Give

There are thousands of students around the country who have been doing just that.  They are renewing themselves in preparation for the inevitable.  School.  There… I said it…school is coming.  we need to get ready.  By renewing your life and committing in these 5 things you will put yourself in a good position to navigate through merky halls and fume-filled buses.  And most of all, you will have aligned yourself with the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE <cue booming voice with lots of reverb> and thats a good feeling

Oh yea…and something else is coming soon too.  Something else that is inevitable.  Or should I say… someone.  Jesus is coming…and he’s gonna have a pop quiz for all of us.  thats an exam I don’t want to flunk.  How about you?

Indy ‘07 & Campus Missionaries Galore!!

Posted by admin on August 17th, 2007

Hey guys…I’m pumped right now!!  Why?  Because Indy was an awesome experience for all of us who went.  13,000 people in the RCA dome…cool.  Also, many of you have made decisions to become something called a campus missionary!!  WOW!!  So what does that mean and what do we do now?

A campus missionary is a student who feels the burden in their heart to reach their school for Christ and has made a committment to grow in each of 5 areas.  These areas are PRAY, LIVE, TELL, SERVE, and GIVE.

To learn more about these committments and sign up to be a campus missionary online, click here.

God is going to do something awesome this year if we will be open and let him do it. There will opportunities for you to be trained as a campus missionary coming very soon.  Let’s make a huge impact this year for Jesus.

Welcome!

Posted by admin on June 19th, 2007

I want to welcome you to the recently updated website for unashamed youth.  The site is still in need of content on some pages, and some other things are being put into place.  But all in all, I believe we have something good here.

Feel free to click on the forums link and register as a user.  There you can start topics, create polls, or add posts to topics started by others.  The events page will soon have a fully functioning interactive web calendar that will enable you to see upcoming events and even email details to friends.  The leaders only page is just that…a forum for leaders only.  I am also excited to have a section completely devoted to parents… by clicking on the parents tab, you are linked to a completely different site devoted to parents.

Please give us your feedback on things that could be added here…we want this site to be a tool that serves the youth, their parents and the leaders who lead them.  May God bless this new start!
